The best internet advertising strategy is based on gaining knowledge that gives you an edge on the competition. There is a lot of competition in all areas of business, and even more so in the launching of a website. Strategic planning, positioning and product differentiation are all essential in addition to effective internet marketing in order to operate a successful website.
The two elements to a successful website are a the best content and the best internet advertising strategy. When planning your website content, it's important to find a way to differentiate it from your competitors. The best internet advertising strategies will focus on differentiation, and give the consumer good reasons to select your product over those of your competitors. Because it is often not possible for small companies to compete on price alone, they should look into other positioning strategies which can be as effective.

Justin Timberlake has joined forces with California advertising agency Specific Media to purchase the social media site MySpace. The deal was priced at $35 million, which is just 6% of what the former owner News Corp paid for MySpace in 2005. Timberlake plans to take an active role in shaping the strategy of the social networking site going forward.
Rupert Murdoch, the owner of News Corp, had previously stated that he was looking to sell the site for at least $100 million, so the fact that he would accept $35 million is a good indication of how far quickly MySpace has declined in the last three years. In 2008, MySpace still ranked as the world's largest social media site, but it has been unable to cope with the explosive growth of Facebook since that time.

Business advertising in the transportation industry is a major endeavor, costing thousands of dollars and creating more awareness about transportation services. New federal rules on airline business advertising and pricing have been delayed, giving the industry a break for the time being. That is not good enough for travel companies, though, which overwhelmingly object to the proposed rules.
One of the rules stipulates that advertised fares must include all applicable government taxes and fees, which goes against the standard industry practice of keeping these separate. Discount airlines have filed lawsuits in an attempt to stop the implementation of the rules. They argue that the rule changes threaten their core business practices, and this will ultimately cause harm to the traveling public. Airlines are concerned that the requirement to show all taxes and fees in web promotions will discourage budget travelers from booking certain flights. They also take issue with the requirement to make bag fees more obvious in online promotions.
With increased regulations on business advertising for a number of transportation companies, many business leaders in the industry are seeking other ways to get their message across to the community. The case of Perry Mandera of Chicago is a good example of this dynamic in action. The owner of a Chicago trucking company is a pioneer in the trend of cause-related marketing and advertising. For example, he begun the Custom Cares Charities which directly gives back to the community, while of course, positively increasing the profile of both Mandera and his Custom Companies. Traditional advertising and marketing is no longer as effective as before, particularly for transportation companies. That is why Mandera along with other innovative business leaders are thus approaching it in a different way by genuinely caring about the surrounding community. By doing so, they believe that good will return back to them in the form of increased customer loyalty and respect.
The Italian American Executives of Transportation (IAET) recognized Mandera's contribution to the transportation industry and the way he has spread his business and community message. The IAET's stated mission is to provide charity to Italian-American groups, although it also provides great networking opportunities for its members. They actively raise money through member events like golf outings and other social events. The group does make donations to charitable causes in the Chicagoland area such as youth scholarships which benefit Italian-American students. The organization has a long history dating back to 1965, and boasts a large membership of influential executives in the Chicago area like Perry Mandera. Business advertising in the transportation industry is thus evolving, and the pioneers in the industry are adopting new methods to reach out to the community.
